Our Mission We roast only certified organic and, when available, fairly traded coffees. We believe that organic growing processes produce better tasting coffee. This means that the coffee you drink is not supplemented with herbicides, fungicides, synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Organic also means that the soils are not polluted with those same chemicals and the farmers and their families are not exposed to those potentially harmful chemicals in the air, soil and groundwater. When you buy fair-trade coffee, you are helping small family farms. The coffee importers we buy our fresh green beans from pay farms and farm cooperatives a higher price than many other importers. That money goes directly into the pockets of those families. Your purchase makes a difference in small communities around the world. Shade Grown coffees like ours ensure that soils are not depleted of nutrients because the natural fallout from the limbs, etc. replenish the soil. Also the trees shade the ground, keeping it cool and moist. Many so-called shade grown beans are grown in plots where the forests were destroyed and replanted with coffee and shaded with crops such as bananas, mangoes and the like. We are assured by our suppliers that this is not the case for the coffees that we buy. We appreciate your purchases now and in the future.
